Pencoed Gymnastic classes adopts the Welsh Gymnastics A-Z Award Scheme which is an exciting new programme that provides well structured progressive sessions. The Award Scheme consists of 4 levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum, all of which show the development of a number of skills in gymnastics. The award scheme has been designed so that it can be challenging for the children, allowing them to gain a great feeling of success when they pass each level.

Generally this opportunity, which is one of the first of its kind, is a 30 week programme covering the A-Z Bronze award and Silver awards. In addition to the course children are invited to a graduation competition at the end of their 30 weeks.

Pencoed Gymnastics are working towards ensuring that every child in the area gets the opportunity to take part in a Bronze programme and learn where and how to progress to the next level, whether that be in a gymnastic club or leisure centre classes.

Due to the progressive nature of this course it is essential that payment is arranged in 10 week blocks and not session by session. This also ensures an appropriate child to coach ratio and level of commitment from all parties.

Pencoed Gymnastic Club is an intermediate boys enterprise for 5-11 year old boys who have been identified as having a flair in gymnastics and who wish to progress in the sport. They train twice per week and compete at regional levels. The club is a feeder club to Barry YMCA Hub and Swansea Gymnastic Centre.


Participants with a disability should be able to take part in a mainstream session. Children with Downs Syndrome, spinal rods, or retinal detachment will require medical certificates stating ability to take part in the session.
