Friends of Monze is a small kitchen table registered charity based in Bridgend. We work in the town of Monze, between Lusaka and Livingstone in the south of Zambia. We work with a local partner organisation in Monze and the community.
We aim to relieve poverty by:-
• Enabling education, we are currently building a school for 400 children, nearly half are orphans and all are vulnerable. We plan solar lighting so adults in the community can learn in the evening
• Providing permaculture gardening training for teachers and the community enabling them to grow food and mitigate the effects of climate change. The school will have compost toilets to fertilise the school garden.
• Providing capacity building training to small grassroots social enterprises and equipment enabling them to generate income providing a social safety net for orphans, sick and elderly. For example we provided a peanut butter making machine.
Deana Owen, director of Friends of Monze, is happy to give illustrated talks about the charity to any organisation. Please phone 07807660543 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
