Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art that has become popular in the western world. It is practiced in a softer way when compared to many other martial arts and can thus be taken up at any age even by those who are rather elderly. Typically beginners are taught the movements in solo routines, and then the martial applications at a later stage.
The western public are quite ill informed about Tai Chi. Often beginners who have not learned the practical applications set themselves up as teachers and invent reasons for not teaching what they do not know. Some even find excuses and say that the martial aspects are not important. There are consequently a lot of bogus western copies of Tai Chi around.
Bridgend Tai Chi is a Council run class in the Bridgend Recreation Centre on Friday evenings. We are a genuine classical Tai Chi style. Chinese masters say that the full heath benefit cannot be achieved without a study of the martial aspects. If you practice Tai Chi with us you can be assured that you are doing genuine Chinese Tai Chi and not just one of the very many western produced bogus copies.
