The Lions Club of Bridgend is part of Lions Clubs International, the largest service clubs organisation in the world.
Our fundraising events include the largest Book Fair in Wales which is held at Bridgend YMCA, Angel Street, Bridgend over 3 days in March of each year. There are literally thousands of books covering all kinds of fiction, non-fiction and childrens categories. We accept donations of books from October until March each year. Books in saleable condition can be donated to the event during this period either by delivering them to the YMCA on weekdays between 10am and 4pm or we can arrange to collect if you telephone us on 0845 833 9582 or e-mail bookfair@bridgendlions.org.uk
Our annual sponsored swim is held in April each year. This is an ideal opportunity for other charitable organisations to raise funds for themselves – all charitable groups who enter teams retain 50% of their gross sponsorship for themselves. All costs are met by the Lions Club. To enter or to obtain further information e-mail swim@bridgendlions.org.uk.
Other fundraising events include a Duck Race, Tree of Light, stalls at fetes and, new for 2011, a Sponsored Walk in the Park (or run of you like) at Bryngraw Park.
All funds raised are donated to charitable causes. We are also involved with Youth projects such as an annual Young Ambassador competition (to recognise the community work of young people) and have recently formed the Bridgend Leos Club for 13-19 year olds.
For more information on the Lions Club of Bridgend and our various activities see our main website below. It also includes details of how to join.
