Please read through the following terms and conditions before you go any further.
What the Council can offer:
If you are a Bridgend-based not-for-profit organisation, your Web pages may be created through use of the Cobwebs Online system and hosted by Bridgend County Borough Council as part of its range of services to support economic and social development in the county borough, or as a part of its programmes to promote and develop awareness of information and communications technologies.

Web pages may be stored on a Council web server without charge, and a web page created using an appropriate web site template as supplied by the Council.

URLs will be created as sub-domains of www.cobwebs.uk.net. Within certain limits, we will offer you your choice of sub-domain name.

We will maintain an index to your site through the Bridgend County Borough Council Internet directory of information about Bridgend, and through the Cobwebs Online front page.

This facility is not intended to compete with commercial internet service providers (ISPs), and the Council advises those organisations who need a commercial level of service that they should make arrangements with an ISP that can provide the service they require.

What you need to do:
To apply, you must fully complete the application form on www.cobwebs.uk.net and agree to the Council's terms and conditions as set out in this document.

You must agree to keep the information on your web pages up to date and accurate. Web pages that have not been updated for six months will be removed after one warning by e-mail.

You are advised to make sure that your pages comply with any legal requirement, such as the Data Protection or Welsh Language legislation. 

All pages created and hosted through Cobwebs Online will automatically carry a footer containing a link to funders of the project, to the Council and to a disclaimer.

You should nominate one person in your organisation who has the prime responsibility for the information on your web site, and include the name of that person and details of how to contact them on the application form. This information will automatically be displayed on the Web page created.

You should make sure that you always keep your own copies of the content and images for your web page in order to protect against their loss through any failure of the web server. We will not make any backup copies of web page content provided to us.

Terms and Conditions:
The Council reserves the right to refuse use of Cobwebs Online, or if necessary to immediately remove, any web pages that contain obscene, hateful, libellous or other objectionable materials, or that relate to gambling, or to the conduct of any illegal activity.

The Council also reserves the right to remove web pages that we believe to contain out of date or inaccurate information, although we will give you warning (by e-mail) of our intention to do so and give you the opportunity to make any necessary corrections within a reasonable period of time.

The Council makes no undertaking or warranty as to the reliability or the nature of the service provided, nor provides any undertaking about the time taken to restore service following a breakdown.

The Council makes no undertaking as to the reliability or expertise of persons mounting the pages nor to the time scale in which updates or changes will be made to the site upon receipt of new content.

You may not sell any part of web space provided under this scheme to other parties, either directly or as part of a package in relation to other services that may be offered by your organisation.

You must agree to keep secure any account name or passwords that we provide to you.

You must agree to indemnify Bridgend County Borough Council against any claim or actions taken as a result of any web pages you provide being either incorrect or misleading or for any other reason. You should be aware that the Council makes the following disclaimer in relation to all information hosted on the cobwebs.uk.net domain:

"Bridgend County Borough Council makes no representations or warranties of any kind concerning the quality, safety or suitability of the content of the pages or the site, either express or implied, including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Further, Bridgend County Borough Council makes no representations or warranties as to the truth, accuracy or completeness of any statements, information or materials concerning the web pages that are contained on these internet sites. In no event will Bridgend County Borough Council be liable for any indirect, punitive, special, incidental or consequential damages however they may arise and even if Bridgend County Borough Council has been previously advised of the possibility of such damages. If any portion of this disclaimer is held invalid or unenforceable under any particular circumstance, the balance of the disclaimer will still apply and the disclaimer as a whole is intended to apply in other circumstances."
